Central Region

Central Region holds profound significance within Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., as it is the birthplace of the vision that led to the establishment of our sisterhood. it was through the courage, intellect and determination of seven illustrious educators in Indianapolis, Indiana, that the idea of Sigma Gamma Rho was first conceived, laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to thrive today.

Established in 1925 and formally organized in 1940 by Sorors Homer Woods of Chicago, Illinois, and Ruth Armstrong of St. Louis, Missouri, Central Region has long served as a cornerstone of leadership, service, and sororal excellence.

For over 100 years, Central Region has continued to play a vital role in advancing the mission and legacy of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., proudly serving as a powerful force for leadership across communities both locally and globally.
